A New Beginning in Structural Biology
The University of Houston has been very fortunate to recruit a number of top scientists in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry and the Department of Chemistry. First, Dr. Scott Gilberston (home page
home page) came, bring an expert research knowledge in synthetic chemistry for peptiomedics. Then the university was able to bring Dr. Schwartz (home page) to campus. He has both a large transgenetic activity with mice that are key to studying heart disease and also has developed the UH's the Center for Molecular Medicine and Experimental Therapeutic. To complete the hat-trick, the UH brought Dr Bob Fox from the UTMB and his expertise in X-ray crystallography.
